Heavy Water

When I first created the Electric Feather I had no idea that it would spark so much interest. For the first time I decided that I should try making further iterations…aka, creating a “guitar model”.

Heavy Water was part of the next batch. I found a dramatic gold-and-blue wave patterned paper, hand-silkscreened in Japan, for the back of the soundboard. The neck is covered by linen cloth and finally a layer of paper incorporating super-strong golden abaca fibres.

I was able to eke out one last piece from my billet of reclaimed California redwood for the soundboard. The body core is super-stiff douglas-fir, with indian rosewood for the fretboard, leg-rest, and bridge. As with the original, there is a thin-film soundboard transducer in combination with an undersaddle pickup to provide a unique and very acoustic-sounding output.
