Daphne

The goal: design and build an avant-garde, seven string archtop. As in, if Django Reinhardt were alive today, what would he play? Taking inspiration from classic Maccaferris, Cat's-eye Gretschs, and modern masters like Ken Parker, Daphne is what I came up with.

It's a proper acoustic instrument, with thin hand carved plates of solid spruce and black walnut. The sides are bent in a single continuous section. The floating pickup is custom-made by STGuitarworks and fitted into a one-piece ebony cover, to match the fretboard, headplate, bridge and tailpiece. The controls are mounted in a fully shielded section separate from the vibrating soundboard, and includes a volume control fo the hidden piezo soundboard transducers.
